San Miguel High School’s Club Pag-asa won a national humanitarian award.

San Miguel High School’s Club Pag-asa was chosen as the winner for the Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy award for this year’s National Philanthropy Day, school officials announced.
National Philanthropy Day (NPD) is a special day set aside to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy and those people active in the philanthropic community and to celebrate Tucson’s generous spirit.
Since 2005 Club Pag-asa has raised money to help support Bahay Pag-asa (“House of Hope”), which is a youth center in the Philippines that helps to rehabilitate youth instead of placing them in jail with adults. Club Pag-asa raises money for this center and other schools around the world through school fundraisers and clothing drives.
