‘Our Faith, Our Hope, Our Future’ Parishes share $5 million in campaign rebates
Posted on by AdminNearly $5 million has been distributed so far to parishes throughout the Diocese of Tucson as they share in rebates of funds contributed to the five-year capital campaign called “Our Faith, Our Hope, Our Future.”
The total amount collected as of March 31 is $26.6 million, as indicated in the parish breakdown below. The Diocese is using the campaign money to purchase land for new parishes and other purposes.
Each parish receives back 20 percent of the amount it contributes, up to its individual goal, and then 50 percent of any amount that exceeds the goal.
Parishes use the money in a variety of ways, including to improve and expand their facilities.
For example, Our Mother of Sorrows Parish in Tucson has spent $150,000 in rebate money to upgrade and redistribute its electrical system in preparation for the load of air-conditioning its school next year.
Any additional funds received from the capital campaign, including $26,000 still on hand, will be used to pay for the air-conditioning.
A parish-school fundraising campaign is underway to help meet the cost.
St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Tucson has decided to donate all of its rebate money to the Diocese’s priest retirement fund. As of March 31, that amount stood at $707,827.
