Immaculate Heart wins science fair

Immaculate Heart Academy, a Catholic middle school in Oro Valley, won the top prizes in the Arizona State Science and Engineering Fair last month at the Phoenix Convention Center.
Immaculate Heart was named the top junior high school (7th and 8th grade division) for 2012 and science teacher Colleen Page was named the top teacher.
Earlier Immaculate Heart was named the top middle school for the second year in a row at the Southern Arizona Science and Engineering Fair, which qualified the six Immaculate Heart first place winners for the state competition.
The students and their winning projects in the state competition were:
1st place, Animal Science Division
Amity Brown – Water, Water Everywhere, I’m a Triop, Should I Care?
Laura Aroz and Betty Hurd – Eggcellent Feed
2nd place, Cellular and Molecular Biology
Amanda Minke – What Micro-Monsters Lurk in Lake Miner Waupaca, WI?
3rd place, Animal Science
Robyn Almario and Paulina Gonzalez – Cold and Hot Larva
