Corporate donors thanked for helping Catholic schools

Corporate leaders from throughout Southern Arizona were honored for their financial support of Catholic schools at the annual luncheon of the Catholic Tuition Organization, held last month at the Arizona Inn in Tucson.
Donations to the school system can be written off dollar-for-dollar on state tax returns, said Ginny Clements, incoming president of the organization’s board of directors, who said “tax credits are the most mutually beneficial way we can help families fulfill the dream of an affordable private school education for those who would not have been able to even consider it.”
Two students – Russell Perez, 6th grader at St. Cyril of Alexandria School and Corina Serna, a junior at St. Augustine Catholic High School – spoke in moving terms about the value they place on their Catholic education, and the financial support they receive to gain exposure to that education.
Bruce Beach, chairman and chief executive officer of BeachFleischman, a Southern Arizona accounting and business advisory services firm, urged businesses to recognize the value of participating in the scholarship program.
Clements noted that the organization raises millions of dollars every year.
