Annual gathering on tap for students

Posted on by Admin

Young students from all corners of the Diocese of Tucson will gather at the Tucson Convention Center on Oct. 27 for the diocese’s annual Youth Fest, a Year of Faith event.
The event will feature Chris Padgett, a songwriter, musician, speaker and worship leader who travels the world giving talks, missions and concerts.
Known for his zany sense of humor, Padgett is a “very zealous” convert to Catholicism – he and his family entered the Church in 1999 – who holds a master’s in theology from Franciscan University.
Bishop Gerald F. Kicanas will deliver a keynote address.
The fest will feature three “super heroes” – Padre Eusebio Kino, St. Augustine and Pope Benedict XVI.
Registration is under way for students in grades 6 through 12, who must register with a parish or school group with an approved chaperone. High school and middle school students will be in separate tracks for the day, except for Mass and the opening session. Each group will attend two workshops.
To register go to www.diocesetucson.org and click on “YOUTHfest 2012.” For more information, contact Joe Perdreauville at joep@diocesetucson.org or call 520-838-2539, or Isabel Madrid at isabelm@docesetucson.org or 52-838-2544.
