Posted on by Admin

A Posada, a Christmas festival originating in Latin America that dramatizes the search of Joseph and Mary for lodging, was staged in Nogales, Sonora, on Dec. 17, and the procession was marked by testimonies of migrants. The participants passed along the border wall and carried banners. At right, with Father Sean Carroll, S.J., executive director of the Kino Border Initiative, looking on, Lisel Estrada Estrada of Chiapas, Mexico, tells how she and her husband traveled back to Mexico to visit her parents and were caught attempting to return to the U.S.  They were deported, and her husband is in jail, facing charges for his second attempt. Their minor sons are waiting for them in the U.S., she said.
The bi-national annual event is sponsored by Dioceses Without Borders.
